Moving day, step by step
Here is how a typical day goes with our crew, and how to help us work fast and well. A crew that never waits is a move that costs less.
1Crew arrival
- We call or text 20 to 30 minutes before arriving. The arrival window is confirmed in your email the day before.
- The crew lead walks through the home with you: what's going, what's staying, what's fragile, furniture to disassemble, loading order. This 5-minute walkthrough prevents dozens of questions later.
- We protect floors (runner mats), door frames and stair railings before the first piece comes out.
- Billable time starts when the crew arrives at your place, not when it leaves the garage. You sign the work order with the start time.
2Loading
- The order is always the same: appliances and large furniture at the back, heavy boxes low, light and fragile boxes high, mattresses and mirrors along the walls. Everything is strapped.
- Every piece of furniture gets a padded blanket. Sofas and mattresses can also get plastic covers on request.
- We disassemble beds, tables and large shelving if needed; hardware goes in a sealed bag taped to the piece. Reassembly is included on arrival.
- During loading, you don't carry anything. The best thing you can do: stay available for questions, check each room once it's empty, and keep kids and pets elsewhere.
- A well-prepared average one-bedroom loads in 1.5 to 2.5 hours with two movers. The time doubles if boxes aren't ready or paths are cluttered.
3The drive and delivery
- Travel time between the two addresses is part of the billed hours. We take the most direct route a truck can use (height restrictions, bridges).
- On arrival, give the crew lead the room plan. A sheet taped to each door ("Bedroom 1", "Office") plus boxes labelled by room is the winning combo.
- We place furniture where you ask and reassemble it. Changing your mind about where the sofa goes is fine — ideally before we head back for the next piece.
- Before we leave, check the empty truck with the crew lead and sign the work order with the end time. The balance is settled then (card, Interac e-transfer or cash, per your agreement).
- Check your belongings in the following days. If something was damaged, notify us in writing promptly with photos: that's what allows the claim to be processed.
4How to help us go fast
- Everything packed, closed, labelled and gathered near the door or by room before we arrive. An open box "we'll finish while you load" always slows things down.
- Elevator booked, parking planned, keys in hand, clear path from the door to the truck: each of these removes 15 to 30 minutes.
- Have water handy for the crew in summer and provide bathroom access. Not mandatory, but a hydrated crew works better — and movers remember it.
